Today In Georgia History is an exciting, award-winning educational project that focuses on an historical event or person associated with a particular day in Georgia history. These short segments aired daily on GPB television and radio stations across the state from 2011-2013, and are now archived and available on this site.
GHS and GPB collaborated to provide audiences with this innovative and engaging programming.
In addition to the radio and television broadcast, GHS and GPB created an interactive website for Today in Georgia History to serve as an educational resource for teachers and students in classrooms statewide. The website maintains audio and video streaming of the segments, as well as transcripts, and includes tips for teachers, curriculum, writing prompts, review questions and discussion topics, classroom exercises, follow-up research topics and selected primary-source material.
Today in Georgia History’s web resource reaches students of all grade levels and covers all subject areas based on the content, and is aligned with Georgia’s social studies curriculum and performance standards.
