Ambivalence: noun; the simultaneous existence of two opposed and conflicting attitudes and emotions.
Chronicled: verb; recorded events in the order in which they occurred.
Conservative: adjective; disposed to preserve existing conditions or institutions or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.
Deprecating: verb; to depreciate, belittle, or express earnest disapproval of a person or someone’s character.
Immigrants: noun; a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.
Journalism: noun; the occupation of reporting, writing, editing, photographing, or broadcasting news or of conducting any news organization as a business.
Syndicated: verb; to publish simultaneously in a number of newspapers or other periodicals in different places.
